Roadmap

What is coming, what is being built and what has just arrived. This page reads the project's own list and stays current while the work goes on. See the Release Notes for what each version changed.
In progressBeing built now.8
Map revamp: one map for every kind of dataMap
Preset views (Aircraft, Weather, Radio, Mesh, Everything), one search box for everything, active-filter chips and per-layer filter sections.
Easier navigation on every pageHub
The top menu and a bottom bar stay in view while you scroll long pages, on phones too.
A tidier Settings areaHub
Admin settings regrouped into a sub-menu of shorter pages, with a search for any setting.
Search on the admin listsAccounts
Find a person, station, MLAT connection or map layer by typing.
Search and sort on public listsStations
Search and sort the public Feeders list, and sort Flights, Flight History and Airports by any column.
How to Feed split by feed typeStations
Separate pages for ADS-B, MLAT, UAT and Am I Feeding, with room for weather stations, ACARS and more.
Network coverage mapMap
What the network covers, filterable by type: ADS-B, MLAT, UAT and later repeaters, radiosondes, weather and mesh.
Choose your landing pageAccounts
Each person picks which page they land on after signing in.
PlannedDesigned and queued, in roughly this order.17
Places, roads, counties and hospitalsMap
County and city boundaries, major roads, ZIP codes and hospitals with their trauma level and services, tied to their heliports, searchable by city or ZIP, with a drill-down panel showing everything nearby.
Weather stationsStations
Members' own weather stations (Ecowitt, Tempest, Weather Underground and more) with their own pages, current conditions, rain, wind, lightning and history, and a weather layer on the map, in the style of Weather Underground.
RadiosondesData
Weather balloons launched near Arkansas: live tracks, predicted landing places and which of our stations heard them, using the public SondeHub data.
Repeater directoryData
An Arkansas directory of repeaters in every mode (FM, DMR, D-STAR, Fusion, P25 and more) laid out like the airports, started from open data and local lists and kept right by the community. Anyone signed in can submit one or report a correction.
Meshtastic and MeshCore nodesStations
Where the mesh nodes are, how far they reach, and what keeps the network healthy, with a guide for joining the Arkansas mesh.
ACARS messagesData
Aircraft datalink messages received by member stations, shown on the aircraft details and on a live messages page.
Satellite-relayed aircraftData
Positions of aircraft reported over Inmarsat, Iridium and HF radio by members with the right receivers.
Native replay and heatmapMap
Replay a past day and see where traffic flies, built into the map instead of the embedded classic tools.
More of the classic map's featuresMap
Multi-select, persistence mode, QNH-corrected altitude and the remaining options of the classic tar1090 map.
Phone polishMap
A second pass on phones, driven by real-world feedback.
EmailAccounts
Account verification, password reset by email and alert emails, once a sending service is chosen.
Admin area allow-listAccounts
Limit the Admin area to chosen addresses.
API keysAccounts
Request a key for a documented public API with fair limits.
Built to scale and survive a failureHub
Designed so the hub, the MLAT server and the portal can run on more than one machine and share the load.
ArkSignal: a new nameCommunity
The network now covers far more than ADS-B (weather, radio, mesh and more), so it becomes ArkSignal, at arksignal.allisononline.org. The old addresses keep working for everyone already feeding.
A new home page with a page for each serviceHub
A broad ArkSignal overview with live numbers and a card for each service (aircraft, weather, radio, mesh and more). Aircraft tracking becomes its own landing page, and every other service gets one tailored to it.
Report and correct repeatersCommunity
Submit a new repeater, flag a wrong frequency or tone or one that is off the air, and let sysops keep their own current, with a review queue and credit to contributors.
Ideas we likeUnder consideration; no promise yet.8
Weather alerts on the mapData
National Weather Service warnings (tornado, severe storm, flood) drawn as areas, with alerts to subscribers.
Earthquakes and river gaugesData
USGS earthquake activity (New Madrid zone) and river and lake levels across Arkansas.
River traffic (AIS)Stations
Barges and boats on the Arkansas, White and Mississippi rivers from member AIS receivers.
Amateur radio extrasData
APRS stations, space weather and HF propagation, net schedules and Winlink gateways.
Drone Remote IDStations
Drones that broadcast their identity and position, from member receivers.
Satellite imagery and passesData
GOES satellite and lightning layers, and pass predictions for satellites over each station.
Discord bot, phone app and kiosk modeCommunity
Alerts in Discord, an installable phone app, and a wall-display mode for clubs and emergency operations centers.
Station achievements and leaderboardsCommunity
Friendly recognition for range, uptime and contribution.
Recently releasedAlready live. The Release Notes page has the details.16
Planefence and Plane-AlertData
Which aircraft flew over Arkansas, with photos, airlines and routes, plus a list of interesting aircraft (military, government, rare). Notifications to Discord and others are set up by an administrator.
Off-site backupsHub
Encrypted copies of everything (database, settings, statistics, traffic history) sent to a server, bucket or NAS elsewhere, a small daily copy and a big weekly copy.
Restore part of a backupHub
Bring back one area (accounts, stations, flight history...) or a single person, station or alert rule instead of everything.
Aircraft type filterMap
Show only helicopters, jets, turboprops, piston props, large and heavy aircraft, gliders, drones or ground vehicles.
Collapsible filter sectionsMap
Every group of map filters folds up like the aircraft details, remembers how you left it, and shows how many filters are active.
Keyboard shortcuts popupMap
The shortcuts help opens in the middle of the screen, on top of everything.
Sign-up checklistAccounts
Registration and password forms list the requirements and tick them as you type, including whether the two passwords match.
Live Release Notes and RoadmapHub
These two pages update themselves from the project's repository, so they stay current while work is under way.
Support the projectCommunity
A page for donations toward running costs (Ko-fi and PayPal) and an equipment fund for antennas, receivers and mesh nodes the project installs at host sites. The page appears once the project's donation links are set up.
One-click updates for the whole stackHub
New services appear on the hub with the Update button and no commands: the stack updater, MLAT and the hub itself.
MLATStations
A network MLAT server, MLAT status for every station, an MLAT network page showing who is synchronised with whom, and recognition by MLAT user name.
How an aircraft is trackedMap
The aircraft card says whether a position came from ADS-B, MLAT, UAT/ADS-R, TIS-B or none, and how many stations hear it.
Service Status pagesHub
A plain-words status page for everyone and an in-depth one for administrators.
A complete How to Feed guideStations
How ADS-B, MLAT and UAT work, setup for new and existing stations, ports, troubleshooting and privacy.
Classic map features: units, shortcuts, search, filtersMap
Units (aeronautical, metric, imperial), keyboard shortcuts, search with lists and wildcards, data source and flags filters, jump to a place, shareable links, altitude chart and KML export.
